The Cloth of Gold Cone (Conus textile) is widely distributed across the tropical Indo-Pacific region, ranging from the eastern coast of Africa and the Red Sea to Hawaii and French Polynesia. They are commonly found in shallow, warm waters near coral reefs, rubble beds, and sandy areas
When alive, Cloth of Gold cone shells are highly venomous and dangerous to humans. They are considered one of the most venomous creatures on earth, capable of inflicting severe stings that can cause paralysis, respiratory failure, and in some cases, fatalities.
