Enhydro Smoky Elestial Quartz from Madagascar is one of the most complex and multi-layered crystal formations found anywhere in the world, combining three distinct and highly prized qualities within a single specimen. Elestial quartz — sometimes called "skeletal" or "jacaré" quartz — is characterized by its deeply etched, layered, and terraced surface structure, which forms over extraordinarily long periods of time through a process of dissolution and re-growth that gives the crystal a ancient, almost otherworldly appearance. The smoky coloration results from natural irradiation of aluminum-bearing quartz deep within the earth, producing its characteristic brown to nearly black translucency.
