Larimar is a rare and captivating blue variety of pectolite found exclusively in the Dominican Republic, specifically in the province of Barahona. Its oceanic hues, ranging from pale sky blue to deep turquoise, are reminiscent of Caribbean waters, making it a beloved stone both for its beauty and energetic qualities. Larimar is formed in volcanic cavities where hot gases push mineral-rich fluids into cracks, and over time, the pectolite crystallizes into the striking patterns we see today. It is typically mined by hand from steep mountain terrain, often in small, hard-to-access areas, which contributes to its rarity and higher value on the market. Due to its limited geographic source and delicate formation process, high-quality larimar is becoming increasingly scarce.
