What it is

How it is formed
Carnelian forms as a variety of chalcedony when silica rich solutions crystallize within volcanic or sedimentary rock. Iron oxide inclusions within the stone create its signature orange, red, and amber hues. Over long periods of time, layers of chalcedony develop, resulting in carnelian’s smooth texture and vibrant color.

The natural formation process gives each piece its own character, shaped by mineral content, timing, and environmental conditions.
